The State of Kerala, adorning the southern tip of peninsular India, is synonymous for its verdant landscapes, picturesque coastline and laid-back lagoons. The State, termed as one of the ten paradises on earth by National Geographic Traveller magazine, had been a much sought after destination for globetrotters across. Apart from the quaint backdrop, the State’s plural milieu coupled with a flair for modernity adds to its panache.
The State’s vibrant economy and its relentless efforts in sustainable development over the years have made it an affable and reliable entity for entrepreneurs across the globe. The strides in Information Technology, Sustainable tourism endeavours, Bio-Technology etc are testimonies. The State has scored an impressive 75.49 % in the World Bank initiated ‘Ease of doing business Index’. Further, Kerala has always been a torchbearer in many pivotal reforms; viz Literacy, Education, Health, alleviation of Poverty, Land reforms to name a few and the Human Development Indices, on par with some developed nations, affirm the advancements.
Transport Sector in India is the 3rd largest contributor of Green House Gases (GHG), with 90 per cent comes from Road Transport alone. India’s revised pledge to Paris Agreement on Climate Change stipulates a reduction of emission intensity of its GDP by 45 per cent by 2030 from its 2005 levels. As every governmental entity has its share of responsibility to achieve this ambitious goal, the State of Kerala, holding on to its legacy, has put in place an Electric Vehicle Policy termed ‘E-mobility’ in 2018. The policy aims at enhanced penetration of Electric Vehicles (EV) and to explore cleaner fuel alternatives with a targeted EV penetration of One million vehicles by 2025.
