E-Mobility
Transport Sector in India is the 3rd largest contributor of Green House Gases (GHG), with Road Transport alone accounting for 90 % of the emission. India’s revised pledge to Paris Agreement on Climate Change stipulates a reduction of emission intensity of its GDP by 45 per cent by 2030 from its 2005 levels. The State of Kerala has put in place an Electric Vehicle Policy termed ‘E-mobility’ in 2018. The policy aims at enhanced penetration of Electric Vehicles (EV) and to explore cleaner fuel alternatives with a targeted EV penetration of One million vehicles by 2025. The following initiatives were taken in this line.

- Subsidies and Tax rebates for EVs
- Joint mission with State Electricity Board & Renewable Energy Agency for Grid/Solar Charging Stations
- Induction of Electric Vehicles in Government Sector
- Identified the State’s Renewable Energy potential as 9 GW
- Road map in place for a comprehensive development of Hydrogen fuelled Transport Ecosystem
- Successfully established a Multi-modal Integrated Public Transport Solution at Kochi
- Inducted electric buses and established a successful business model in Public Transport System
- One among the only two Hydrogen fuelled car in the Country; Toyota Mirai, is registered in the State with absolute tax rebate for R & D
- All set to introduce 100 Electric passenger ferry boats as water taxis
- 10 hydrogen buses to be introduced as feeder service between Kochi Metro and Kochi Water Metro
- Cochin Shipyard Limited has taken up on the indigenous development of Hydrogen Fuel cell propelled vessels
